When should you climb Kilimanjaro?

Kilimanjaro can be climbed throughout the year, but the driest and most popular periods are generally January to early March and June to October. Clearer weather improves views and trail comfort, while quieter months may appeal to voyageurs who prefer fewer climbers.

Day 1

Machame Gate to Machame Camp

Begin in the rainforest and trek to the first camp with your mountain crew.

Machame Camp to Shira Camp

Climb into moorland with wide views and changing vegetation.

Day 3

Shira Camp to Barranco Camp

Trek high toward Lava Tower and descend to Barranco for acclimatization.

Day 4

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Cross the Barranco Wall and continue through beautiful alpine terrain.
